The focus of English Language Arts is to develop a deeper understanding of the printed word and how words convey meaning – beyond their definition. There are three main components: Literature (fiction), Informational Text (nonfiction), and Poetry. Using the 6th Grade standards, students will read and analyze novels, historical documents, news and magazine articles, and a variety of poetry.
Students work cooperatively within a team to read, discuss passages, and prepare an oral response to questions. Each team member has a rotating role that is vital to the success of the team and the individual student.
